DOCUMENTARY FILM COMPETITION REGULATION - 2025

LONG PLAY MUSIC FILMS FESTIVAL will be organized by FilmDeney Production and Art on December 5-6-7, 2025 in Istanbul.

English name of the festival: Long Play Music Film Festival

1. PURPOSE AND NATURE

Festival ManagementLONG PLAY MUSIC FILM FESTIVALin order to ensure that the following objectives are achieved:

  • To contribute to music culture and cinema culture in Turkey and to open a space where people working in this field can bring their productions to the audience.
  • Bringing together the art of music and cinema to create a qualified and in-depth cultural space.

The festival has an international character and aims to ensure its sustainability.

2. FESTIVAL MANAGEMENT

2.1. Decision Making Authority

The decision-maker of the festival is the Festival Director.

2.2. Organization Units

  • Festival Director
  • Festival Executive Committee
  • Festival Coordinator

2.3. Festival Director

  • LONG PLAY MUSIC FILM FESTIVAL's director and designer is Gökçe Kaan Demirkıran. The organization was planned and implemented by FilmDeney Production and Art.

2.4. Festival Executive Committee

  • The Festival Executive Committee is established by the Festival Director. The Festival Director evaluates the implementation project and settles disputes. Their decisions are final. The Festival Director chairs the executive committee.
  • The Festival Executive Committee consists of a chairman and 2 members. The Festival Director decides to increase the number of members when necessary. The Festival Director determines the Festival Coordinator. The Festival Director determines the units and the people who will work here and informs the Festival Executive Committee.
  • The Festival Director chairs the Festival Executive Committee. The Festival Executive Committee also acts in an advisory capacity.
  • In case of disputes between the units of the Festival Coordination Office and the participants, the Festival Director has the authority to resolve the problem and make the final decision.
  • In matters not regulated in the competition regulations, the final decision authority is vested in the Festival Directorate.

2.5. Festival Coordinatorship

  • The Festival Coordinator's Office carries out all technical and administrative processes for the complete realization of the festival.
  • The Festival Coordinatorship is responsible and authorized within the framework determined by the Festival Director.
  • The Festival Coordinator is appointed by the Festival Director.

2.6. Authority and Responsibility

  • The programs of the festival are put into practice by the Festival Executive Committee, Festival Coordinatorship and its affiliated units within the framework of the festival project prepared.
  • The Festival Executive Committee and the Festival Director are authorized to accept and reject applications within the framework of the relevant regulations.
  • The pre-jury and the main jury are composed of experts in their fields selected by the Festival Director.

3. SCOPE

3.1.  It will be held between December 5-6-7, 2025. LONG PLAY MUSIC FILM FESTIVAL is a documentary film competition for anyone over the age of 18 who is a director or producer.

3.2. The director (if there is more than one director, written consent must be obtained) or the producer of the film in the position specified in Article 3.1 must apply to the competition.

4. CONDITIONS FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE COMPETITION

4.1. Films completed on or after January 1, 2020 can apply to the competition. The films that will take part in the festival will be evaluated internationally.

4.2. The competition will be held in the 'documentary film' category. The theme of the participating films has been set as music. Films that do not have a music theme will not be considered.

4.3. If a language other than Turkish is used in the films to be sent to the competition, there must be Turkish subtitles. If a language other than English is used, English subtitles are required. The festival is international. Films submitted from Turkey will also be evaluated within the framework of international quality.

4.4. Films made in all formats can apply to the competition.

4.5. The competition will be held on condition that at least 8 films apply. If the number of applications is below 8, the competition will be canceled by the festival director. The submitted films will be evaluated in the screening selection.

4.6. Copies must have picture and sound quality suitable for screening. Films with defective recordings will be excluded from the competition without the need to warn the participating director.

4.7. Previous participation in national or international competitions or having received awards from these competitions is not an obstacle to application.

4.8. Applications, It will be made via www.filmfreeway.com address. Applications by cargo will not be accepted.

4.9. Screening of Competition Films

  • The films that apply to the competition are screened by the pre-jury for preliminary evaluation.
  • The finalist films will be screened in Istanbul on December 5-6-7, 2025 in the halls announced by the festival executive committee.

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Applications, by the end of business hours on October 1, 2025 must be completed.

5. EVALUATION

The evaluation will be carried out in two stages.

5.1. Preliminary Evaluation

  • The pre-jury is determined by the festival executive committee and consists of at least 3 people.
  • The festival executive committee has the right to disclose or withhold the identities of the members of the preliminary jury.
  • The festival executive committee will announce the competition films as a result of the selection by the preliminary jury.
  • Films deemed unsuitable for competition by the preliminary jury may be excluded from the competition or included in the screening program outside the competition by the festival executive committee.
  • The preliminary evaluation will be completed by October 31, 2025 and the finalist films to be screened will be announced to the public through social media channels.

5.2. Final Evaluation

  • The final evaluation of the finalist films will be made by the main jury.
  • The main jury will do its work between October 31, 2025 - November 5, 2025.
  • The main jury will be formed by the Festival management from at least 3 experts in their fields and will be shared with the public.
  • The decisions of the preliminary jury and the main jury are final.
  • In order to assist in the operation of the Regulations, a non-voting festival representative will be able to participate in the screening and evaluation of films by the pre-jury and main jury, if deemed necessary.

6. AWARDS

The awards to be given to the directors/producers of the films entitled to receive awards are as follows;

6.1. Documentary Film Category Competition Awards

  • The best documentary: Award Figurine
  • Special Jury Award (subject to jury decision)

6.2. In case of cash and in-kind awards, they will be announced by the Festival Executive Committee before the application deadline.

7. PERFORMANCE RIGHT

The festival management has the right to screen the competition films until the end of 2026. The producer and director will not be paid any additional fee for this.

8. ENFORCEMENT

1. The Festival Executive Committee is authorized for all matters outside the scope of these regulations and for the settlement of any disputes that may arise.

2. The right to amend the regulations belongs to the festival management.

3. By applying online, the director or producer participating in the competition is deemed to have accepted and undertaken all the provisions in the Competition Regulations and Application Form.
